Peter Siepmann BSc (Hons), LRSM, ARCO

Peter Siepmann's experience as an organist spans a wide range of solo, concerto and ensemble repertoire. As a conductor, he has directed groups from the smallest chamber ensemble (from Bach cantatas to Britten's Sinfonietta) to the massed ranks of works such as Handel's Messiah, Dvorak's sixth symphony and Haydn's The Creation. He is Director of Music at St Peter's & All Saints' in the centre of Nottingham and associations with a number of local ensembles including the Nottingham Bach Choir, Nottingham Harmonic Society, English Pro Musica and the Nottingham Baroque Soloists (of which he is a founding member) mean that Peter enjoys a busy schedule as an organist, accompanist, continuo player and conductor, both in the City and on the university campus.

His musical education began as a chorister at Bruern Abbey and continued at St Edward's School, Oxford, under Julian McNamara. During his time at the University of Nottingham, he spent several years directing the university's chamber choir, Viva Voce, with whom he directed a wide range of repertoire from Allegri, Scarlatti and Bach to Stravinksy, Martin and O'Regan. Viva Voce's performances (one of which was broadcast on BBC Radio 3) were met with considerable critical acclaim. After a period as director of the University Chorus, he also served, under the guidance of Jonathan Tilbrook, as chief conductor of the University Sinfonia.

Peter is employed as Organist & Director of Music at St Peter's & All Saints', Nottingham - major city centre churches - where he trains and directs the all-age, voluntary robed choir who sing at the weekly services of choral Eucharist and Evensong. He is also responsible for playing the organ for weddings, funerals, civic and other incidental services, as well as overseeing the church's popular series of Saturday morning Coffee Break Concerts. He is a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music and an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. In January he will join the academic staff at Uppingham School.
